Blenda
‘Go back to the country where you belong. Siri can you tell me where I belong?’
This song is a result of one of many long conversations we had. We talked about racism and how it affects/affected our lives. Even though our experiences are different, it hurts the same way.
Racism (sometimes very violent, oftentimes latent) has sadly always been a part of our lives. And the irony is that I wouldn’t know where I truly belong. I am a foreigner wherever I go. What this painful and very common comment also exposes is the ignorance it carries. Because ‘I am here, because you were there’ god damn it!
But we converted this pain into a strength. A kind of hybrid Toyota Prius generation, but sexy!
